Camera buying decisions
Reolink cameras with optical zoom: documented models compared
The useful first split is optical zoom plus connection and power requirements. RLC-511W, RLC-811A, RLC-823A and E1 Outdoor have published optical zoom records in this selection. The table reads their zoom factors from those records; it does not substitute digital magnification or a product-family claim.
Compare documented camera specifications
This is a selected group of documented models, not the complete Reolink catalogue or a stock list. A missing model has not been assessed here. Open a product name for its full record.
Unknown does not mean unsupported. Open Scope and sources beside a value to check the source date and hardware/firmware scope. Unspecified revisions are not a promise that every revision has the same feature.
Zoom factor is only one part of the decision
The documented zoom factors differ, while the PoE and WiFi columns separate confirmed connection capabilities. A zoom ratio describes a range, not the absolute angle of view or the detail obtainable at your intended distance. This corpus does not establish a side-by-side identification distance, so use the lens specifications and installation geometry to verify that requirement.
Choose the connection before comparing lenses
- For an existing PoE installation, compare RLC-811A and RLC-823A, including their different power requirements. The same listed zoom factor does not mean the same installation requirements.
- For a WiFi installation, compare RLC-511W and E1 Outdoor. Check both the published zoom factor and the power arrangement at the proposed mounting point.
- If remote movement or tracking is essential, check those features separately for the exact camera and system. Optical zoom alone does not establish pan, tilt, automatic tracking or integration controls.
Avoid buying on the zoom number alone
Before ordering, confirm the field of view at the intended lens setting, mounting distance and the controls exposed by your chosen recorder or software. Those checks can matter more than the largest ratio in the table. Where our public records do not contain a value, the table leaves it unknown rather than borrowing specifications from a similarly named model.
These are camera specifications. They do not establish which features work through Synology, Home Assistant or a Reolink NVR. Check the exact camera, integration, recorder revision and firmware before buying for a particular system.

Evidence and purchasing scope
The tables use the current published capability records. Each known value links to its manufacturer source and shows its capture date and scope. We have not tested these cameras side by side. Selection is based on documented differences, independently of merchant offers; current availability, price and bundled accessories are not verified.
