Reolink camera offline on NVR: connection and password checks

Quick answer

Read the camera's status on the NVR before resetting anything. A missing camera, an offline channel and an incorrect-password message require different checks. Start with the affected camera and connection path; an NVR visible in the App does not by itself establish that every camera channel is working.

Use the status message to choose the next check

Reolink distinguishes offline or connection-failure messages from incorrect credentials and account lockout. Names and menu locations differ across NVR interfaces. For a password error, update the stored camera credentials; for an offline camera, begin with power and the network connection. A detected device that is not logged in still needs to be assigned to an available channel.

Record the symptom before changing the setup

For an efficient support report, note whether one channel or several failed, when it last worked, and what changed immediately beforehand. Keep screenshots of the channel list and the exact error. Test one change at a time and write down the result. This diagnostic record helps separate an authentication problem from a connection problem without treating either symptom as proof of incompatible hardware.

Check your setup

  1. PoE connection

For a Reolink PoE camera, check power and try a known-working cable and NVR port. If it currently uses an intermediate switch, Reolink suggests testing a direct NVR connection. Apply that check only to the appropriate Reolink PoE setup, not as a generic instruction for third-party cameras.

  2. Local Wi-Fi network

For a plug-in Wi-Fi camera, confirm that camera and NVR are on the same local subnet and that the camera has a unique IP address. Being reachable in the App is not sufficient evidence that the NVR can discover it locally.

  3. Camera credentials

If the channel reports an incorrect password, use the configured camera account and password, not an assumed NVR password. Stop repeated guesses when the account is locked; resolve the credentials and the device's lockout state first.

  4. Hardware and firmware

Check available channels and the exact camera model against the NVR hardware revision. If a firmware update is relevant, obtain the file for that precise device. Send Reolink the versions, channel list and completed checks if the issue persists.
